The main objective of this article is to offer a global overview of the evolution of regional disparities in the EU, including both an analysis of regional mobility as a result of this process and an attempt to better understand the facts and trends which highlight some possible explanations. The text is organised as follows. After this introduction, the second section is focused on the description of the data base. Section 3 shows the main results of a conventional analysis of regional convergence in the EU.
